Palo Santo Benefits
What Is Palo Santo?
Palo Santo is a mystical tree that grows on the coast of South America and is related to Frankincense, Myrrh and Copal. It is part of the citrus family and has sweet notes of pine, mint and lemon.
Palo Santo, literally meaning “holy wood” in Spanish, is a tree that is widely distributed throughout Central and South America. Palo Santo is used in South America in much the same way as White Ceremonial Sage is used in North America- to combat negative energy and to cleanse the space.
Burn palo santo sticks or use the charcoal for ritual smudging that will welcome creativity, love, and good fortune into your space. The wood can help brighten energy and promote feelings of positivity and joy. The scent is also shown to reduce stress and anxiety, and enhance clarity and concentration.
How to Use?
Take one stick and light it with a candle, match or lighter. Allow the Palo Santo stick to burn for 30 seconds to a minute, then carefully blow it out.
Move around the space in which you wish to clear the energy - be it your bedroom, office, car or your entire home-allowing the smoke to waft around each area. The rich smell will also bring peace and clarity to the moment along with good feelings . When finished, place the stick in a fire proof bowl of metal, glass or clay. The glow will end on its own unless you blow on the ember which will keep the smoke going.
Does Palo Santo Kill Viruses?
Being rich in limonene also gives Palo Santo strong antimicrobial properties. It is traditionally used to kill bacteria, viruses, parasites, yeast, fungus, and is often used as a disinfectant.
